Maruti Jimny is undeniably the talk of the town. While Maruti Suzuki started accepting bookings for the new SUV earlier this year, the brand is yet to reveal the prices in the Indian market. The five-door Jimny has started to roll out and reach dealerships across the country though. Here is a white-coloured Jimny five-door, which has reached a dealership.

While we are not sure about the exact location of the dealership, this is an indication that the launch of the new Jimny is around the corner. This all-white Jimny gets a single-tone colour. Maruti Suzuki has already announced that the Jimny will be available in seven shades including Black, Red, White, Grey, and Blue and dual-tone shades of red and signature shade yellow.

Maruti Suzuki unveiled the new five-door Jimny at the Auto Expo in January 2023, along with the all-new Fronx crossover, which is also set to debut in the coming weeks. The new Jimny retains the classic neo-retro design of the three-door version sold overseas, but with a longer wheelbase and two additional doors for the second row.

Following the unveiling, Maruti Suzuki commenced bookings for the lifestyle off-roader at all of its authorized dealer outlets and official website. While the automaker did not reveal the prices or launch timeline during the unveiling, dealerships have confirmed that they will receive the first batches of the new Jimny in the second half of April 2023.

The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be exclusively equipped with a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine, which will come with the choice of either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. This new off-roader will deliver a maximum power of 104 PS and a maximum torque of 138 Nm. It will also come equipped with Suzuki’s AllGrip four-wheel-drive system as a standard feature. The new Jimny will be available in two variants – Zeta and Alpha. Once launched in India, it will compete with the Mahindra Thar.

Suzuki has been manufacturing the Jimny in India for quite some time now, but the India-specific model is yet to undergo testing. The three-door Jimny is exported to several global markets, including Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. However, as the vehicle hasn’t been tested by any NCAP yet, we cannot comment on its safety and protection level.

The Indian version of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be exclusively available in a five-door variant, making India the first market to receive this model. The car will come equipped with basic safety features such as dual airbags as standard across all variants.

The all-new Jimny is being marketed as an off-road vehicle and has garnered an overwhelming response. The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny has already generated massive interest, with bookings reaching close to 25,000.

The official release of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny is expected to be in May 2023, and it will be offered in two versions – Zeta and Alpha. Both models will feature Suzuki’s AllGrip four-wheel-drive system.
