0 49

Maruti unveiled the all-new Jimny 5-door SUV in India earlier this year. Bookings for the SUV has already started and it has received an overwhelming response from customers. The manufacturer has already received over 30,000 bookings for the SUV. The official price announcement for the all-new Jimny is expected to happen in coming months. Before the official launch, the SUV has started arriving at dealerships across the country and we have been seeing videos related to the same on the internet. Jimny will be sold via Nexa dealerships and it will be offered in two variants – Zeta and Alpha. Here we have a small video that does a quick comparison between both these variants.

The video has been uploaded by My Car Garage on their YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger talks about the differences between the Zeta and the Alpha variant of Jimny. The video does not show the lower variant however, we have seen pictures of the same online earlier. Starting with the exterior, the vlogger mentions that Apha variant of Jimny is available in 7 shades namely – Kinetic Yellow with Bluish-Black roof, Sizzling Red with Bluish Black roof, Sizzling Red, Granite Gray, Nexa Blue, Bluish Black and Pearl Arctic White. The lower Zeta variant of the Jimny will be offered with all the colour options except the Sizzling Red.

In terms of dimensions, both variants remains the same. However, the same cannot be said about the features. The Alpha variant of the Suzuki Jimny gets projector headlamps, headlamp washers, automatic headlamps, green tinted UV-cut glasses, 15 inch alloy wheels, electrically folding and adjustable ORVMs and so on. The lower Zeta variant of the Jimny offers halogen headlamps and the fog lamps are also missing. The wheels are now 15 inch steel rims, the windows and windscreens get regular glass, electrically adjustable ORVMs that cannot be folded electrically and so on.

More differences are visible on the inside. The fabric seats would remain the same on both the variants. The major difference would be the features. In the higher Alpha variant, the Jimny would get features like cruise control, 9 inch touchscreen infotainment system, push button start/stop, automatic climate control and so on. The Alpha variant will not be offering some of these features. For example, it is unlikely to get the cruise control, push button start/stop and the size of the touchscreen infotainment system will be smaller. In terms of safety features, both the variant would offers airbags, ABS, EBD and many more features.

What won’t change in both the variants of Jimny is the engine and transmission. Both Alpha and Zeta variants would be powered by the same K15B petrol engine. This is the same engine that is offered with the 3-door variant internationally. This engine generates 100 Bhp and 135 Nm of peak torque. This engine will be offered with a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic transmission in both the variants. Maruti will not be offering a 2WD version of Jimny in India which means both the variants will be offered with the AllGrip Pro 4×4 feature as standard.
