After an eventful 2023, which saw the arrival of multiple new Maruti Suzuki products in the Indian market, the brand is now planning to launch a new MPV. Maruti Suzuki is planning to bring a new MPV that will be based on the Suzuki Spacia. It is already under development and is codenamed as YDB.

According to ACI, the Spacia that will be available in India in 2026, will look very different from the Japanese version of the vehicle. The India-spec variant of the MPV will be stretched. While the Japanese model already measures 3,395mm, Maruti Suzuki will keep the length under 4-metre.

The sliding doors of the Spacia will also give way to more affordable regular doors. The overall design of the car will boxy as the Japanese model. This will mean spacious cabin. Maruti Suzuki is likely to offer a three-row design with a long list of features. The car will go against the Renault Triber in the market.

The Indian-spec, however, will be basic without any Ottoman-like features available with the international model. The new car YDB will be positioned below the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. However, it will be a premium product and will be sold only through the Nexa showrooms.

The Japaenese Spacia, being a Kei car gets a small 660cc engine. For India, Maruti Suzuki will use the 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol engine that will be available with upcoming Swift as well. Both manual and AMT is expected to be available.

Maruti Suzuki to launch new cars in 2024

Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch new cars in 2024, which has generated a lot of excitement. The first one will be the fourth-generation Swift, which already made its debut in other countries. This new version of the Swift looks sleeker and sharper compared to the one currently sold in India. It has angular headlights and taillights, and a more bold-looking grille. The rear door handles will be placed conventionally on the door panels, rather than on the C-pillar.

After the launch of the Swift, Maruti Suzuki will introduce the sedan version called Dzire in the first half of 2023. The new Dzire will have a distinctive design from the hatchback. Inside the cabin, it is expected to have the same layout as the new Swift, including a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, updated center console, and new features like a 360-degree parking camera and wireless charger.

The production version of the Maruti Suzuki eVX electric SUV concept has been seen during testing in India. It appears to be almost ready for production and is expected to be available in the Indian market in the second half of 2023, possibly before the festive season. The eVX will be Maruti Suzuki’s first-ever all-electric vehicle for India and was recently showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show with advancements in the cabin and an updated design.

The upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX will run on a brand-new platform designed for electric vehicles (EVs). This platform will also be used by Toyota. The car will offer a choice of a 60kWh battery pack. It will be in competition with other all-electric SUVs such as the Mahindra XUV400, MG ZS EV, and the soon-to-be-launched Hyundai Creta Electric.
