Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 2022 new TVC video

Maruti Suzuki has just re-introduced the K10 nameplate to the Alto entry-level hatchback, and here is the first TVC that shows the all-new, 2022 Maruti Alto K10. Prices for the Alto K10 start from Rs. 3.9 lakh, ex-showroom.  Bookings are open at all Maruti Suzuki ARENA dealerships in India, and deliveries will commence soon. The all-new Alto K10 has already begun reaching Maruti Suzuki dealers stockyards across the country.

The all-new 2022 Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 features a fresh design that’s quite different from the model that was discontinued a couple of years ago. Even the interiors of the car have received a once over, and look totally different from the interiors of the older car. Another big change in the new Alto K10 is in the engine department.

The engine is a brand new K10C unit that’s also found on the likes of the S-Presso and Celerio. This motor gets twin injectors per cylinder and also features variable valve timing for both intake and exhaust valves. The engine produces 65 Bhp-89 Nm, and is paired to a 5 speed manual gearbox as standard. A 5 speed automated manual transmission (AMT) option is also on offer. While the manual variant returns an ARAI certified mileage of 24.39 Kmpl, the AMT variant does even better, with 24.9 Kmpl. Soon, a CNG variant will join the new Alto K10’s line up.

The 2022 Maruti Alto K10 is available in four trims: Standard, LXi, VXi and VXi+. The Standard trim is quite basic with even the power steering and air conditioning not making it to the features list. However, safety features such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors, engine immobilizer, front seat belt pre-tensioners and speed alerts are offered across all trims including the Standard trim.

The LXi trim adds a power steering and air conditioning. The top end VXi+ trim offers features such as remote keyless entry, SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 4 speakers, Steering mounted Audio controls, rear parcel tray and silver interior accents. The automated manual transmission is offered only on the VXi and VXi+ trims.

The Alto K10 is aimed at first time car buyers. Competition for the Alto K10 comes from the likes of the Renault Kwid and Maruti’s own  budget cars such as the S-Presso and Celerio. The segment where the Maruti Alto K10 operates has been shrinking. Buyers are now moving away from the entry-level hatchback segment, preferring micro SUVs instead. Maruti – the king of hatchbacks in India – continues to operate in this segment.

However, the likes of Hyundai and Tata Motors – other budget car players in India – have abandoned this segment altogether. Hyundai recently discontinued the Santro while Tata Motors has not been building the Nano for a few years now. Nissan has killed the Datsun brand (with cars like RediGo, Go and Go+) in India while newer car makers are not showing an interest entering the budget hatchback segment.
