Maruti Suzuki EVX spotted testing; First electric SUV from the brand

0 42

Suzuki has commenced trial runs of its inaugural all-electric vehicle in Europe. The electric SUV, based on the Suzuki eVX concept unveiled at Auto Expo 2023, has been spotted in Poland wearing full camouflage. The test mule has provided insights into several features that will be incorporated into the production model, set to launch in 2025 in various global markets, including India.

In contrast to the striking and stylish eVX concept showcased at Auto Expo, the production version spotted by AutoGalleria of the new electric SUV appears slightly more subdued. This can be observed in the silhouette of the test mule observed on the roads. The sharp and bold creases of the concept vehicle have been toned down, giving way to smoother curves on the bonnet and fenders.

At the front, the production-spec vehicle based on the Suzuki eVX concept showcases a thick chrome bar at the top of the fascia, likely featuring a closed grille design. The slab extends to large headlamp housings on the sides, equipped with regular projector headlamps in this test vehicle. However, upon launch, the production model is expected to incorporate all-LED lighting to align with the industry trend.

The test mule of the Suzuki electric SUV sported conventional-looking 17-inch silver alloy wheels, which are likely to be replaced by more stylish machine alloy wheels in the production version. The squared wheel arches neatly accommodate these alloy wheels. Additionally, the SUV features rearview mirrors resembling those found on the Baleno, including integrated cameras to support the 360-degree camera system offered in the vehicle.

Looks similar to concept

Another notable aspect of this Suzuki electric SUV is the integration of its rear door handles into the C-pillar, similar to the current Maruti Suzuki Swift. Both the front and rear fenders exhibit a slightly flared design, contributing to a muscular appearance. Although the interiors of the vehicle were fully camouflaged, preventing detailed observation.

Based on an all-new dedicated electric platform, the production-spec Suzuki eVX model will house a 60kWh battery pack, anticipated to offer a range of approximately 500-520 km. The vehicle will measure 4.3 meters in length, 1.8 meters in width, and 1.6 meters in height. Upon its introduction to the Indian market under Maruti Suzuki’s brand identity, it will compete with upcoming electric SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra XUV400, MG ZS EV, and the production-spec Tata Curvv Electric.
