Maruti just unveiled their all-new mid-size SUV Grand Vitara. The bookings for the new Grand Vitara SUV had already started. Maruti will be selling this all-new SUV via Nexa dealerships and this is currently positioned as the flagship model from the entire Maruti line-up. Grand Vitara will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and recently unveiled Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder as well. Here is a detailed image gallery of the all-new Grand Vitara SUV.

Grand Vitara is actually Maruti’s version of Toyota Hyryder. The SUV was jointly developed by both the manufacturers. The platform and technology on both the SUVs remain the same. Both SUVs are different in terms of exterior design. The Grand Vitara comes with a bold looking front grille which gives it an SUV look.

The front-end of the SUV gets a bold looking chrome slat which meets the LED DRLs. The lower grille on the SUV also gets a chrome outline which adds to the premium look of the car. The bumper is similar to what we have seen on Hyryder. It is a muscular looking unit with a projector headlamp unit in it. Lower part of the bumper gets a silver skid plate to complete the front look.

The side profile of the Grand Vitara is exactly the same as Hyryder. it gets squared wheel arches with thick cladding around it. The roof rails and a design element which gives it a floating roof like effect. The alloy wheel designs are similar to what we saw on Baleno earlier this year.

At the rear, the attraction is the new sleek looking split LED tail lamp unit. The tail lamp gets a smoked effect to enhance the overall look. An LED strip extending to the tail gate can also be seen here.

The Suzuki logo is placed in the centre of the tail gate and the Grand Vitara branding is right below it. The design of the rear bumper looks the same as Hyryder and the turn indicator and the reverse lamps are placed vertically on the bumper.

As we move in, the similarities between both the SUVs increase. Grand Vitara also gets a dual-tone cabin. Rich Black faux leather upholstery with champagne gold accents with the Electric Hybrid trim. The Smart Hybrid variant offers Bordeaux faux leather with high luminant silver accents.

On the centre of the dashboard is the freestanding touchscreen infotainment system. It supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and also shows feed from the 360 degree camera.

The seats are wrapped in leather and it offers ventilation feature.

Maruti Grand Vitara will be offered with two 1.5 litre petrol engine options. One of them is a strong hybrid system, while the other is the mild hybrid version. Maruti calls strong hybrid system – Intelligent Electric Hybrid. There are four different modes available with this variant – EV, Eco, Power and Normal. This version has a claimed fuel economy of 27.97 kmpl and is offered with an e-CVT as standard.

The mild hybrid of the smart hybrid version gets 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission option. It also gets Suzuki’s AllGrip AWD system as an option. This is currently the only vehicle in Maruti stable to offer AWD feature in India.
