Marvel Might Regret Paying Jonathan Majors $20 Million for ‘Avengers 5’

The more time passes without Marvel issuing an official statement on the allegations dogging Jonathan Majors, it becomes increasingly likely that the studio is destined to cut ties with the current big bad of the Multiverse Saga.

While the actor’s legal team continue to profess his innocence, even if he’s cleared of any wrongdoing, the situation will continue to be a shadow that looms in the background of his career for years to come. As a result, forking over the princely sum of $20 million to have him headline Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is starting to look like a massive financial miscalculation.

Of course, Marvel wouldn’t have had any idea of the simmering accusations lurking in the background when it first offered the fast-rising Majors an eye-watering amount of money to battle Earth’s Mightiest Heroes – which is almost twice as much as Josh Brolin earned for playing Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame combined – but hindsight is always 20/20.

Not only that, but Majors also reportedly has a back-end profit participation deal built into his contract, which could theoretically increase his potential earnings by tens of millions of dollars should The Kang Dynasty perform to the same level as its predecessors at the box office.

Hypothetically speaking, even if Majors emerges from the current controversy without facing any criminal action, there’s still going to be a lot of people out there who won’t be happy with the 33 year-old netting a potential windfall of up to $50 million come the end of 2025, making Marvel’s sticky wicket even stickier.
