British luxury automotive manufacturer McLaren has made a grand entrance into the Indian market with the launch of its latest supercar, the 750S.
Positioned as the successor to the acclaimed 720S, this new model comes with a starting price of Rs. 5.91 crore (ex-showroom) and is available in both Coupe and Spider variants.
McLaren claims the 750S to be their lightest and most powerful series-production car yet, showcasing advancements in weight-saving, performance, and aerodynamics over its predecessor, as reported by Autocar.
McLaren 750S: Power and Performance
Under the hood, the 750S features the same M840T engine found in the 720S but with significant enhancements. The 4.0-litre twin-turbo, flat-plane V8 now produces 750 bhp and 800Nm of torque, without relying on electrical assist from either an electric turbo or a hybrid battery setup.
Notable improvements include a newly calibrated power delivery system, a new triple-layer head gasket, twin fuel pumps, higher-pressure turbos, lighter pistons, and a standard-fit sports exhaust reminiscent of the McLaren P1.
The weight loss, power boost and shorter final drive ratio contribute to the 750S accelerating 10 percent faster than the 720S across the board.
It achieves a remarkable 0-100kph in just 2.8 seconds and takes only 4.4 seconds more to reach 200kph.
While the top speed is slightly down at 331kph, the 750S boasts a segment-leading power-to-weight ratio of 587 bhp per tonne, saving 30 kg over its predecessor.
