Mercedes-Benz C300d Discontinued In India, Here’s Why

Mercedes-Benz India has recently decided to discontinue the top-spec diesel variant, the C 300d, from its fifth-generation C-Class lineup, according to the report by Team-BHP.com.

Launched nearly two years ago alongside the base-spec C 200 petrol and C 220d, the C 300d offered a high-performance diesel engine with a mild-hybrid system.

However, the German luxury carmaker has now decided to streamline its offerings in India.The C 300d featured a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder mild-hybrid diesel engine, shared with the C 220d.

The engine in the C 300d was more powerful, making 261 bhp at 4,200 rotations per minute (rpm) and 550 Newton-meters of torque between 1,800 and 2,200 rpm. The mild-hybrid technology provided an additional boost of 15 bhp and 200 Nm.

Priced at Rs 61 lakh (ex-showroom) at the time of launch, the C 300d targeted enthusiasts looking for a powerful and efficient luxury sedan.

New C-Class Lineup:

Following the discontinuation of the C 300d, Mercedes-Benz India will now offer the C-Class in two variants – C 200 and C 220d.
