MG Comet EV variant-wise prices out; Introductory price for first 5,000 units

MG Motor India recently announced the price of the base variant of the Comet EV in the Indian market. Starting at Rs 7.98 lakh, MG Motor India has now announced the price of the top-end variant at Rs 9.98 lakh. These prices are valid only for the first 5,000 units. MG Motor India is likely to revise the prices depending on the demand for the new EV.

With the price announcement, MG Motor India has also revealed the variant-wise features of the new car. The entry-level variant called the Pace gets a starlight black cabin, and a fully digital instrument cluster of 10.25-inch size. Power-adjustable ORVM and reverse parking sensors.

The more expensive Comet Play variant is the mid-level variant and it comes with a space grey cabin and fully digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch screen.

It also comes with a floating 10.25-inch infotainment system as well. It gets wireless connectivity options like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay while there are i-Smart with 55+ connected car features.

The top-end Plus variant comes with a smart start-stop system, the digital key with Bluetooth technology in addition to all the features available with the Play variant. MG Motors will start accepting bookings for the new Comet EV on 15th May and the deliveries will begin by 22nd May.

Same range for all variants

There is no different battery pack or electric motor differentiation between the variants. All the three variants get the same battery pack and motor.

The MG Comet EV is equipped with a 17.3 kWh battery pack that can be charged fully in about 7 hours through a regular home socket. The vehicle is provided with a 3.3 kW charger by MG, but there is no fast charging system available. The official figures suggest that it offers a range of 230 km, with the electric motor generating a maximum power of 42 PS and peak torque of 110 Nm.

Additionally, the MG Comet EV offers various connected features such as live support and voice recognition. MG provides several customisation options for customers to choose from at the dealerships, including a range of aftermarket decals and in-car accessories.

However, MG has stated that the car is suitable only for customers who travel less than 100 km daily and do not drive long distances.

The MG Comet EV boasts unique dimensions, measuring 2,974mm in length, 1,505mm in width, and 1,631mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,010mm. It has an eye-catching and distinctive appearance with a quadricycle-inspired body design that includes upscale features such as split headlights, LED elements that stretch across the width of the vehicle, stylish alloy wheels, a tall C-Pillar, and a dual-tone paint job. This compact electric vehicle has two doors and can comfortably seat up to four passengers.
