If everything goes well, MG’s upcoming electric MPV is expected to arrive at the end of this year, and will attract family buyers.

The leading car maker in India MG, owned by the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), is all set to improve the EV lineup in India. It has been reported that the company is gearing up to add two new EVs to the portfolio.

The upcoming models are likely to be based on the E260 platform, offering well-built and impressive driving quality to the customers.

Upcoming EVs by MG

One battery-powered model will feature five-door, and will arrive as a tech-loaded SUV, while the other model will hit the market as a compact MPV. Both EVs are expected to compete against some of the hot-selling products by Tata and Kia. The vehicles are likely to be positioned under the price tag of Rs 15 lakh.

Statement by MG’S Top Official

Reacting about the EV portfolio, MG’s Deputy Managing Director in India, Gaurav Gupta, said “We are bringing two new cars during the second half of this year and one of them is an EV for sure. We will keep adding new products to our portfolio next year also.” quoted by TeamBhp.

Style and Design

It has been reported that the upcoming MPV will be based on the Wuling Cloud EV, which is currently available in the international market. It is expected to share a similar style statement and borrow a few robust features from it. However, a concrete clarification about the same is yet to be released by the company.

In terms of size, the Wuling Cloud EV is around 4.3 meters long and offers a decent wheelbase of 2,700mm, which is quite smaller compared to the Maruti Ertiga.

Arriving When?

If everything goes well, this electric MPV is expected to arrive at the end of this year, and will attract family buyers. It will also get FAME benefits from the government of India.
