Microsoft is killing support for Cortana on Windows 11, Windows 10

0 24

Microsoft has announced it will end support for Cortana on Windows 10 and Windows 11 later this year. The company, however, will continue to support the virtual assistant in its other products, including Outlook Mobile, Teams Mobile, Microsoft Teams Display, and Microsoft Teams Rooms.

The tech giant hasn’t revealed why it has decided to end support for Cortana on Windows 10 and Windows 11. However, Microsoft might have taken this step as it will be introducing a new virtual assistant on both platforms, called Windows Copilot, by the end of this year. It is powered by Bing Chat, and it is already available to users in the beta form. Reports suggest that Windows Copilot is a better tool than Cortana. It can do everything Cortana can and more.

In the announcement post, Microsoft has suggested alternatives to Cortana, which include voice access on Windows 11, Bing, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Windows Copilot. Although Cortana offers useful functionalities, it is not desirable, mainly because it’s not as intuitive as other AI-powered virtual assistants. With that in mind, ending support for Cortana and replacing it with more powerful tools makes sense for Microsoft and its users.

With this change, Cortana will soon disappear from your Galaxy Books running Windows 10 or Windows 11 operating systems.
