Miguel Shares New Song “Give It to Me” Amid 2010 Single’s TikTok Success

Miguel continues to make waves in 2023.

The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter returned this week with “Give It to Me,” a genre-blending track about his sexual appetite and the feeling of being desired.

“You’ve been so tied up in your mind these days, I know,” he sings in the opening verse. “A sweet distraction might be what you need to glow/Your body on inferno, inferno, your mind on my, my, my/But you deserve to let go, to let go, to let yourself unwind.”

It’s unclear if “Give It to Me” is a standalone cut or part of the follow-up to Miguel’s last album, 2017’s War & Leisure. Since then, the R&B crooner has come through with his 2021 EP Art Deal Chic Vol. 4, and appeared on numerous collaborative tracks, like “No Smoke” with the Game and Travis Barker, “Got Friends” with GoldLink, and Jhené Aiko’s “Happiness Over Everything (H.O.E.),” also featuring Future.

“Give It to Me” arrives as one of Miguel’s older songs is experiencing renewed popularity. His 2010 “Sure Thing” track—which kicks off his debut studio album All I Want Is You—began trending on TikTok earlier this year and rose to No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, where it currently sits at No. 20. Miguel spoke about the song’s resurgence in a recent interview on The Chart Show with Brooke Reese.

“I think I always wanted to be an artist that made music that lasted over time,” he said. “And honestly, it makes me more determined to continue to keep going, so it’s a blessing. It’s really dope. … I’m just really excited to have new fans that are going to discover me in the midst of it. I think it’s an opportunity for people to, hopefully for anyone who likes that song specifically, just get into the journey of it. I think there’s something dope about that, that we don’t really get to do, especially because my career started as social media began as well.”

You can now stream “Give It to Me” on all major platforms and check out its visualizer above. Fans can also catch Miguel’s May 6 headlining performance at the Lovers & Friends Festival in Las Vegas.
