Motorola Razr 40 Ultra can’t hold a candle to Galaxy Z Flip 5’s performance
Samsung is rumored to launch the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 earlier than expected. Reports suggest that the next-generation foldable phones from the company will be unveiled toward the end of July or early August. And Motorola is expected to launch its Galaxy Z Flip 5 competitor—Razr 40 Ultra—with a bigger screen in June, but that phone can’t hold a candle to Galaxy Z Flip 5’s performance.

According to newer reports, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra will come equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, paired with 8GB/12GB RAM and 128GB/256GB storage. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is a good chipset, and it powered the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy Z Fold 4. However, it is nowhere close to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 that is expected to power the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The newer Snapdragon chipset has around 35% faster CPU performance and 25% faster GPU performance.
Moreover, as seen with the Galaxy S23 series, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is much more power-efficient than the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. It sips the battery rather than gulping it, so the phone loses less battery change during sleep, voice calls, and even GPS navigation. This is quite important in clamshell-style foldable phones as they have smaller batteries. The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra is expected to come equipped with a 3,640mAh battery, slightly smaller than the one inside the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
