Motorola went to Weibo (a Chinese social media network) to confirm the news. The image below shows the company’s official poster for this launch event. You can clearly see the date at the very bottom. And no, it’s not a foldable, even though this poster may seem to indicate that it is.

Motorola Moto X40 launch event announcement

The Moto X40 did leak a number of times thus far, and it even got certified by TENAA. That listing revealed its design, while its CAD-based renders also surfaced quite recently. All in all, we know exactly what to expect from this phone.

The Moto X40 will be made out of metal and glass. It will include thin bezels, a curved display, and a centered display camera hole. All the physical buttons will sit on the right-hand side of the device.

You will notice three cameras on the back of the phone, all of which are included inside a single camera island. Motorola’s branding is also visible on the back, while the phone’s front and back sides are symmetrical.

It will include a 144Hz display, and up to 18GB of RAM

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC is expected to fuel this phone, while the device will include a 6.67-inch fullHD+ display. That will be an OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate.

The device is set to ship in three RAM variants, 8GB, 12GB, and 18GB RAM iterations. Those three variants will include 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB of internal storage. The global model will likely arrive in different combos.

A 5,000mAh battery was also mentioned, as were two 50-megapixel cameras and one 12-megapixel camera. The phone will offer fast charging as well, and it’s expected to ship with Android 13, at least globally.
