Is Motorola’s Adaptive Display Concept Really the Future of Phones?

Concept devices can often be ‘vapourware’ and never arrive on the market, but Motorola’s flexible smartphone might well be the future of the smartphone form factor.  I checked it out at MWC 2024 in Barcelona this week, and while there are some aspects I like, there are others I’m definitely not looking for in a smartphone.  Although concepts are good and bad for various reasons, which I won’t get into here, they do offer a potential look at what’s to come in the years ahead. Motorola’s Adaptive display concept…

I used Motorola’s futuristic folding phone, and it’s truly crazy

Joe Maring / Digital Trends I just used Motorola’s newest folding phones, and it may be one of the most impressive (and confusing) I’ve ever laid my hands on. Last October, Motorola teased its “adaptive display concept” device, releasing photos of a truly wild phone that bends into a variety of positions, including the ability to wrap around your wrist to transform into a giant smartwatch. Seeing the images online, I was blown away — but also a little skeptical. It looked unlike any other folding phone I’ve ever…

Motorola’s Adaptive Display looks like an interactive slap bracelet

At Mobile World Congress this week, Motorola took the wraps off its latest device, a concept called the Adaptive Display that looks like an interactive slap bracelet. Do you remember slap bracelets? If you didn’t grow up in the 90s then chances are you may have missed this craze. But they were all the rage among high school students and younger kids. And they came in a wide variety of styles to match everyone’s individual personalities. Motorola‘s Adaptive display concept is most certainly not a slap bracelet, and it’s…

Motorola’s Smart Connect enables content sharing across devices

Today as part of Mobile World Congress, Motorola and Lenovo are announcing a new software called Smart Connect. You can think of it as a unification software for content sharing because that’s exactly what it is. Smart Connect is all about making your life easier and helping you streamline your workflow and entertainment. But that’s really just the essence of what it is in its simplest terms. Smart Connect opens up a whole of possibilities for everybody who uses Motorola and Lenovo devices. From students to professionals…

Lenovo and Motorola’s Smart Connect makes it easier to manage tasks across your devices

Motorola and Lenovo have announced a new cross-device management tool at MWC 2024 called Smart Connect that lets users seamlessly switch tasks from one device to another. You could, for example, move a podcast from your phone to your tablet without losing your place using only a swipe gesture, or easily share files between connected devices using a unified Share Hub. The companies haven’t yet released the full list of compatible devices, but so far say Smart Connect will work with Lenovo PCs running Windows 10 or later…

I wore Motorola’s bendable smartphone-watch hybrid, and it left me all kinds of confused

Kerry Wan/ZDNETPre-gaming my week at Mobile World Congress with a demo of Motorola's bendable phone concept may have been the best worst decision of my life. On one hand, the coolness factor of a phone that can wrap around your wrist is beyond measure. On the other hand, it's so ambitious that you quickly realize how far-fetched it is when you finally put it on.Also: Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Fold is the most bizarre, fun, and expensive laptop I've ever testedMotorola first unveiled the bendable concept at Lenovo Tech…

Motorola’s Razr foldable phone is discounted to $500 today

Andy Boxall / Digital Trends If you’re planning to buy a foldable smartphone, here’s an offer from Motorola that may be hard to refuse — the Motorola Razr 2023 for a discounted price of $500, for savings of $200 on its original price of $700. Folding phones rarely appear in phone deals, and they get sold out quickly when they do. We expect the same thing to happen with this bargain, so if you’re interested in taking advantage of it, you should proceed with completing your purchase as soon as you can. Why you should…

Deals: Motorola’s Razr foldables are cheaper than ever, non-folding Motos are on sale too

Foldables are now attainable, if not quite cheap. The Motorola Razr 40 Ultra is down to €800, its lowest price yet. It combines a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with a 6.9” FHD+ 165Hz LTPO OLED internal display and a usable 3.6” cover display (144Hz, both 10-bit). The 12+13MP camera leaves something to be desired, but the 3,800mAh battery offers both 30W wired charging and some wireless (only 5W but still). The Motorola Razr 40 is inching towards mid-ranger…
