Netflix has been the laughingstock of the streaming service industry because of some of its policies toward password sharing. Despite the heavy backlash that the company has endured so far, it continues to push for a future where no password is shared. Netflix will eliminate password sharing in the States soon.
In case you don’t know what’s going on, Netflix does not want multiple Netflix users to share one account. This means less money for the company, of course. Also, it’s been struggling in the current economy, as other companies have. However, that’s not stopping people from dunking on Netflix for its changes.
Basically, if you want to use the main Netflix account across multiple users, the account holder will need to pay more money each month. Netflix is geo-locked, annoyingly. If you want to use that account, you’ll need to be in the designated location to use it.
This is the only streaming company on the face of the internet that’s doing this, and it’s, undoubtedly, causing people to drop the subscription service.

The company has been testing this out in several countries such as Peru and Canada, and folks in the States have been anticipating it reaching them. Well, that time is almost upon US users, as Netflix announced that it’s abolishing password sharing in Q2 2023. Guess what, we’re in Q2 2023!
This means that US users should see the change happening sometime within the next couple of months. The company didn’t give us an exact date, and that just makes this whole affair that much more annoying.
In a letter to its shareholders, Netflix stated that it expanded the paid password-sharing policy to four markets in the first quarter of the year and it was pleased with the results. So, there might be something to this plan. If you’re on someone else’s account, you’d better watch as much content as you can while you still can!
