Jumping on the electric vehicle bandwagon, the country’s largest SUV maker, Mahindra Automotive, is also gearing up for the launch of its new XUV.e8. This new model is the electrified version of the already popular XUV700 SUV, and recently, a new test mule of this SUV was spotted on the road. The new test mule, this time around, has revealed a few more details about this upcoming electric SUV.

The newest set of spy pictures of the XUV.e8 come courtesy of Team BHP. In the pictures, a Mahindra XUV.e8 mule can be seen parked at the side of a busy road. The exact location where this mule was spotted has not been shared. There are two pictures showing the exterior of the vehicle from the front and rear. Additionally, there are two pictures that show the new interior of the XUV.e8 as well.

Mahindra XUV.e8: Exterior details

First off, let’s talk about the biggest revelation from this new set of pictures of the XUV.e8’s test mule. The front spy shot reveals that the upcoming Mahindra XUV.e8 EV SUV will come equipped with connected LED DRLs on the front. It will also get a brand new headlight housing that will house new vertically stacked LED headlights. Most likely, it will also ditch the traditional front grille with a closed-off grille, as EVs do not require a cooling system up front. The new XUV.e8 from the front looks very different from the outgoing ICE XUV700.

Apart from the front, not a whole lot has changed on the side profile. This new set of spy shots does not show the side profile; however, an earlier set of spy pics showed that the only difference on the side profile was the addition of a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels. Just like the body, these new wheels were also seen with camouflage. The doors, fenders, and the overall silhouette of the upcoming XUV.e8 looked the same as the XUV700 ICE model. The same is the case with the rear as well, and it will get the same design as the outgoing model.

Now coming to the interior of the XUV.e8, the new spy shots reveal a few new details. The first major highlight of the new EV SUV’s interior will be that it will come equipped with three screens. The first will be a digital instrument gauge cluster in front of the driver, the second will be the main infotainment screen in the middle. Lastly, there will be an additional screen in front of the front passenger. So far, we have seen a similar setup on the new Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan and new E-Class.

Apart from this, another picture of the interior revealed that the EV SUV will come equipped with a traditional gear lever on the center console. It will also get a rotary dial just beside the gear lever, which will most likely help in drive mode selection. Additionally, another rotary dial for the infotainment screen, just like the one on the XUV700, can also be noted. Lastly, another one of the biggest highlights of the new interior is the addition of a two-spoke steering wheel, which we have seen in the new Tata Safari, Harrier, and Nexon models.
