Just a few days ago the South Korean automaker Hyundai officially announced the return of its flagship SUV – the Tuscon in India. The company stated that the next generation of Tuscon will be arriving on the Indian shores by the second half of this year. And recently it was spotted that the company has now listed the 2022 Hyundai Tuscon on its official India website. The fourth-generation Tuscon is Hyundai’s global best-selling SUV and since the model’s inception in 2010, it has received over 50 prestigious global accolades. The company also released a teaser of the 2022 model giving a brief glimpse of the forthcoming model.

Internationally, the Tucson has been available since 2020 and now with the released teaser and pictures we can have a look at the more intricate design details of this mid-size SUV. The fourth-gen model is a completely new vehicle that has been designed from the ground up and is based on the company’s ‘Sensual Sportiness’ design language. The upcoming Tucson’s front end features a wide grille that encompasses the entire nose and perfectly incorporates the triangle LED DRLs. Lower on the bumper, a pair of all-LED headlights can be seen. it also gets a silver skid plate on the bottom of the front bumper.

Moving on the side profile of the flagship SUV we can spot a few strong lines running the length of the SUV’s side, giving the new Tucson a striking and dynamic appearance. The athletic design is enhanced by the squared-off wheel arches, body cladding, and a set of newly designed diamond-cut alloy wheels. Meanwhile, an LED strip connects the T-shaped taillights in the rear of the SUV, and the Hyundai insignia is located on the lower half of the rear windshield. As a result, the rear wiper will be located beneath the SUV’s spoiler.

As of yet, Hyundai has not revealed any details about the interior of the upcoming Tucson but we assume that it will be similar to the one that is currently available in the international markets. The outgoing international spec of the SUV comes equipped with a 10.25-inch colour touchscreen coupled with wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto®. It also gets BOSE Premium audio system provides high-quality sound, a panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable front row ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake, auto-dimming IRVM, keyless entry and go, and a host of other creature comforts.

In terms of safety equipment, Hyundai is also expected to give the new SUV a number of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), such as lane assist, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance help, and autonomous emergency braking with forward collision avoidance.

Under the bonnet, it is speculated that the Hyundai Tucson’s powertrains are likely to remain the same as the outgoing model, including a 2.0-litre normally aspirated petrol engine with 152 PS and 192 Nm, as well as a 2.0-litre engine with 185 PS and 400 Nm of peak torque. Both engines are expected to be supplied solely with an automatic transmission, with optional 4WD on the top-end versions.
