0 18

One of the most popular segments in India is the mid-size SUV segment. Apart from this segment, what Indian car buyers also love are the additional seats to carry more people. For this exact reason, companies have created longer versions of their popular mid-size SUVs. The prime examples of this are the new Tata Safari and the Hyundai Alcazar. Taking note of this demand, the Japanese automotive giant Toyota is also working on the development of a seven-seater SUV based on the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki is also working on a similar model for its Grand Vitara. Recently, a render of Toyota’s seven-seater Urban Cruiser Hyryder has been shared online.

The video of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder seven-seater has been shared on YouTube by SRK Designs on their channel. From the video, it can be noted that the digital artist has altered the design of the outgoing Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder to provide an idea of what the upcoming seven-seater version of this popular SUV could look like in the future. As evident, the main highlight of this new render is the elongated rear end.

Exterior design details

However, first, let’s start with the design details given by the digital artist to the front fascia of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. First off, we can note that the front fascia has been given a complete redesign as it now gets a much more aggressive appearance. The main highlight of the new front end is the presence of a huge grille, and attached to it are the sleek-looking LED DRLs. Apart from them, there are two main vertically stacked LED headlights which complete the split headlamp design of the car. The front bumper also gets a new, more sporty-looking skid plate.

Side profile

Coming to the main highlight of the exterior design of this render, it shows that the rear of the outgoing model has been extended to accommodate the additional row of seats. Most likely, the upcoming seven-seater Hyryder will offer increased legroom for the middle seat passengers as well. As for the render, we can also note that it gets a set of brand new 10-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels which look inspired by the Toyota Fortuner Legender. Apart from these changes, the side profile also gets a window chrome garnish as well. Unfortunately, the render does not show the rear end design.

At the moment, Toyota offers the Urban Cruiser Hyryder in a five-seat layout. It currently starts at Rs 11.14 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 20.19 lakh. The mid-size SUV from Toyota, which is a badge-engineered model sharing its underpinnings with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, is offered with two powertrain options. The first is a strong-hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine (92 bhp-122 Nm) running on the Atkinson’s cycle, and an electric motor that puts out 78 Bhp-141 Nm. This powertrain is paired with an eCVT automatic gearbox, and the combined output stands at 114 Bhp.

Apart from this, the other option is a mild hybrid powertrain. This drivetrain consists of a 1.5-liter K15C naturally aspirated petrol engine (102 Bhp-135 Nm) paired with an electric motor that offers assistance during acceleration. The K15C petrol engine is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard and offers an all-wheel-drive system.
