0 15

Earlier this month, Samsung released the January 2024 security update to the Galaxy S22 and several other high-end and mid-range smartphones. The South Korean firm has now released one more software update to the Galaxy S22 series, which is a bit surprising as the company usually doesn’t release two updates in a month for its older phones.

New Galaxy S22 update may improve camera performance

The new software update for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with firmware version S90xBXXU7DXA6. It is rolling out in Europe and has a download size of around 250MB. According to the official changelog, the new update improves the performance of the camera, but it doesn’t specify which part of the camera has been improved. Other usual bug fixes and reliability improvements are also a part of the update. The January 2024 security patch, which fixes around 75 security vulnerabilities, was already included in the previous software update that was released to the Galaxy S22 series.

If you have a Galaxy S22 series smartphone and live in Europe, you can check for the new update now. To do that, navigate to Settings » Software update and tap Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually. You need to back up all your important data and use a computer running Windows and the Odin tool.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S22 series two years ago with Android 12 onboard. The devices in the lineup received the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update in late 2022 and the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update a couple of months ago. It will get two more Android OS updates in the next couple of years.
