Next Samsung Galaxy Buds to have on-device AI for language translation

0 24

A lot of new features in Samsung’s upcoming devices will be AI-based. The Galaxy S24 is expected to be the company’s first ‘AI Phone,’ featuring multiple on-device AI and Generative AI features, including a wallpaper generator, real-time language translation, and text summarization. And Samsung won’t stop there, as a new report claims that on-device AI is coming to South Korean firms’ wireless earbuds, too.

Galaxy Buds 3 Pro could feature on-device AI for real-time language translation

Apparently, Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy Buds will feature on-device AI, and it will be launched in the second half of next year. According to a report from Maeil Business Newspaper, it reportedly has the capability to translate languages in real-time during voice calls, video calls, and face-to-face. The feature is said to be better than language translation on Google’s Pixel Buds as the former doesn’t require an active internet connection. If this feature performs as intended, it could bring sci-fi movies-like futuristic language interpretation capabilities to consumers as soon as next year.

Samsung has already announced that a real-time language translation feature for voice calls is coming to the Galaxy S24. It translates the caller’s language to a language preferred by the phone’s user and vice versa. The Galaxy Buds 3 could go one step further by translating voice in real-time when two persons are talking face-to-face.

Going by the rumored launch time frame, the feature could first come to the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, which lines up with our exclusive report. Usually, advanced features first come to Galaxy Buds Pro models and then trickle down to non-Pro models. ANC was first launched for the Galaxy Buds Pro and was then released to cheaper models. Similarly, Hi-Fi audio codec, Bluetooth LE Audio, and Auracast debuted with the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. And the same could happen with on-device AI features that could debut with the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro.
