Gadkari inaugurates 3 road overbridges in UP, aims for US-level highways by 2024. Boosts connectivity, decongestion, and economic growth.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari recently unveiled three new road overbridges (ROBs) in Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant step towards enhancing the state’s highway network.

These impressive 3.8km ROBs, constructed at a cost of Rs 297 crore, promise to alleviate congestion on city roads and enhance connectivity, fostering economic growth in the region.

Speaking virtually at the inauguration ceremony held at Chhouch, LRP, and Rajapur crossings in Lakhimpur Kheri, Gadkari expressed his point of view about the state’s national highway network competing with the USA’s expansive road infrastructure by the close of 2024, as reported by HT.

He further emphasized the transformative impact these infrastructure upgrades will have. He highlighted the role of improved roads in stimulating commercial and agricultural activities while ensuring smoother traffic flow.

Joining Gadkari in the virtual event, U.P. Public Works Department Minister Jitin Prasada hailed the ROBs as catalysts for economic growth and emphasized their role in reducing congestion on city roads.

Union MoS Home and local MP Ajay Kumar Mishra Teni emphasized the importance of robust road infrastructure, noting its reflection on the overall development of towns, cities, and districts. He credited the Modi government’s efforts since 2014, which have resulted in the construction of 13,000 kilometers of national highways annually and enhanced connectivity between villages and main roads.

Local representatives, including Lakhimpur BJP MLA Yogesh Verma and Manju Tyagi, shared their perspectives during the ceremony, underscoring the significance of these infrastructure improvements for the region’s progress. Kheri DM Mahendra Bahadur Singh concluded the event with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the collaborative efforts driving these advancements in Uttar Pradesh’s road network.
