The Chinese automotive manufacturer MG Motor’s Indian subsidiary MG Motor India has finally unveiled its much anticipated all-electric hatchback Comet EV. The official launch and price announcement is likely to happen by the end of April this year.

The all-new MG Comet EV is based on MGs sister brand Wuling’s Air EV which is also owned by the Chinese state-owned car-making giant SAIC Motor Corp. The model is currently on sale in Indonesia as well. From the outside, the model boasts a boxy design and looks very distinct. Dimensionally the all-new MG Comet EV will measure 2974 mm in length, and 1505 mm in width, and its height will be 1640 mm.

However, despite its smaller appearance the MG Comet will still boast a relatively long 2,010mm wheelbase and its turning radius will be a mere 4.2m. As per MG with the help of its skateboard architecture and squarish design, it will manage to offer space efficiently and will feel roomier. In terms of exterior design details the Comet EV gets a two-tone front fascia, a tall and stubby nose, and a wraparound strip with LED lighting elements under the windscreen that ends in the wing mirrors. Additionally, the tiny car will also come equipped with two sets of LED headlights placed one above the other on both ends.

MG will be offering the Comet EV in 5 colors which will include 2 dual tone colors and 3 solid colors. The first dual tone option will be Apple Green and Starry Black, meanwhile the other will be Candy White with Starry Black. The choice for three solid colors will be Starry Black, Candy White and Aurora Silver. Customers will also be able to choose from innovative new sticker styles and Comet lit packs as well.

From the side, the Comet EV will get a set of tiny looking wheels which will boast a four spoke design. The doors of MG Comet EV will be substantially larger and get a big window. There will be an additional rear window for the rear passengers which will be positioned vertically and will be a little narrower than conventional rear windows due to the lack of a rear door. Moving on the rear the SUV will get a rather huge rear window and will get two squarish LED taillamps. The rear of the Comet EV will also get the MG badge in center of the decklid along with the Comet lettering. It will also get additional badges such as ‘Internet Inside’ and ‘EV’ on the right and left side of the boot respectively.

On the inside the MG Comet EV will offer a premium interior and will come equipped with a ton of creature comforts. The list of equipment on the MG Comet EV will include two 10.25-inch screens of which one one will be a touchscreen infotainment system and the other will be a digital instrument gauge cluster. The EV will also get the famed MG connected car technology and will help users with connectivity via Android Auto and Apple Carplay. The car will also get turn by turn navigation and real-time traffic updates as well.

Additionally in terms of safety features the MG Comet EV will be offered with an IP67 rated battery, dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, Reverse parking camera and sensors and follow me headlamps. Furthermore the tiny EV will also get features like tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear seat belt reminder, ISOFIX rear child seat anchor la and speed sensing auto door locks as well.

As for the drivetrain side of things the new MG Comet EV will utilise a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor and it will be able to generate a maximum of 42 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque. According to MG the car will come equipped with a 17.3 kWh battery which will provide this tiny EV a range of 230 km in a single charge. The company states that 0-100 charging time will be around 7 hours.
