Over the years, people have raised concerns about the longevity of electric scooters. Often, people compare electric scooters with petrol-powered two-wheelers and get swayed towards the ICE vehicles because of their longevity. However, recently, in order to change this stigma, Ola Electric’s CEO Bhavish Aggarwal has announced an astonishing eight-year or 80,000 km warranty for Ola scooters. Aggarwal stated that this bold step aims to address concerns surrounding the longevity of electric vehicles (EVs) and positions Ola’s scooters as not only environmentally friendly but also durable and reliable.

Apart from this new longer warranty, Bhavish Aggarwal also made an announcement for Extended Battery Warranty and Festive offers with the introduction of the ‘Bharat EV Fest.’ This new initiative from the country’s largest electric scooter manufacturer has been announced to lure in more buyers to the brand. It was announced that the new S1 Pro Gen 2 e-scooter will now come with a complimentary 5-year extended battery warranty. Additionally, customers opting for the S1 Air will be able to avail of a 50% discount on a similar extended battery warranty.

Apart from the extended warranty, Ola Electric is also incentivizing interested customers to make their transition from internal combustion engine (ICE) scooters to electric ones. For this, the company has announced an offering of an exchange bonus of up to Rs 10,000. The company is also providing additional perks, including a Rs 7,500 discount on select credit cards and a chance to earn Rs 1,000 cashback through referrals.

In the last few years, a lot of people have embraced electric mobility and have started switching to electric vehicles in the country. However, there are still many people who have questions regarding which of the two is a better option. Now we know that at the end of the day, the decision depends on a number of different parameters and preferences. However, here are the few reasons why electric scooters outshine the standard internal combustion engine scooters.

Longevity and Maintenance

Electric scooters generally have fewer moving parts, and this results in lower maintenance requirements compared to ICE scooters. With no internal combustion engine, there’s a notable reduction in wear and tear, contributing to an extended lifespan.

Environmental Impact

Beyond longevity, the environmental benefits of electric scooters are one of its biggest positives. Electric scooters and electric vehicles, in general, produce zero tailpipe emissions, which helps in reducing air pollution and contributing to cleaner air in urban areas. In contrast, ICE scooters emit pollutants that impact both air quality and the overall environment.

Cost Efficiency

Now, while the initial cost of electric scooters may be higher, the total cost of ownership tends to be lower over the vehicle’s lifespan. Electric scooters offer very lower maintenance costs, very little to no expenses on fuel, and potential incentives like the extended battery warranty. All of these combined offer a more cost-efficient package.
