0 33

Ola Electric has rolled out a new variant of its S1 X model, introducing the S1 X 4kWh variant with a 4kWh battery pack. Priced at Rs. 1.10 lakhs (ex-showroom), this model caters to consumers looking for an extended range capability. Deliveries for this variant, along with other S1 X variants featuring 2kWh and 3kWh batteries, are set to commence in April 2024.

The S1 X 4kWh variant claims an impressive range of 190 km on a full charge, bringing it close to the 195 km range of the S1 Pro Gen 2. Despite the larger battery capacity, the S1 X 4kWh maintains the mechanical attributes and feature set of its counterparts, ensuring consistency across the product range. The 4kWh model does see a slight increase in weight, tipping the scales at 112 kg.

In a commitment to infrastructure development, Ola Electric has ambitious plans to install 10,000 fast chargers across India by the next quarter, a substantial expansion from the current 1000 stations. Founder and MD of Ola Electric, Bhavish Aggarwal, also unveiled plans to enhance service support with 600 service centers scheduled to be operational by April. The company introduces an 8-year/80,000 km battery warranty as a standard offering with every new S1 electric scooter purchase, with an option for customers to extend the warranty up to 1.25 lakh kilometers for an additional fee.

The launch of the S1X 4kWh variant aims to strike a balance between range and affordability for riders. With a 4kWh battery, the scooter claims an impressive 190 km range, addressing concerns about range anxiety. The 6kW motor delivers a dynamic ride suitable for navigating city traffic, and while the standard charger takes approximately 6.5 hours to charge the larger battery, fast-charging options are available to reduce this time significantly.

In terms of features and pricing, the S1X 4kWh variant, priced at ₹1,09,999, offers essential features like a digital instrument cluster, LED lights, keyless start, and connected functionalities through the Ola app. However, it lacks some features present in the pricier S1X+, such as a larger display, cruise control, and hypermode.

The extended range of the S1X 4kWh variant makes it an ideal choice for those seeking longer commutes or weekend getaways, and its accessible price tag provides an entry point into the higher range segment. Ola’s expanding service network and charging infrastructure further aim to address concerns related to range anxiety. If affordability and practical range are your priorities for city commutes, the S1X 4kWh could be the perfect e-scooter for you. However, for those seeking top-of-the-line features or longer highway journeys, exploring options like the S1X+ or other high-range models might be a more suitable choice.
