Ola to build sportiest car: CEO Bhavish Aggarwal
After creating headlines with the electric scooter, Ola is now working on an electric car. Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO of Ola has shared a new video teaser of the upcoming electric car from the brand, which he claims will be the sportiest car ever built in India.

Without sharing any details, CEO Bhavish Aggarwal released the teaser of the new Ola electric car. The teaser video shows the silhouette of the upcoming Ola electric car that shows the notchback design of the upcoming vehicle.

Ola Electric is yet to share any details on the upcoming vehicle but it is likely to come to the market next year. It will be a sedan car and Ola Electric will share more details on the 15th of August.
The previous teaser images of the Ola electric car show continuous LED lights which are positioned like a stripe of light. Ola is planning to manufacture the car entirely in India. Whenever the Ola electric car arrives in India, it will be the first-ever electric car coming from a start-up in India.
Ola Electric to focus on batteries
Bhavish Aggarwal on Monday said that the company will invest $500 million in setting up one of the biggest Battery Innovation Centre (BIC) in Bengaluru. The CEO said that the new BIC will be located in Bengaluru and it will become one of the most advanced cell research and development (R&D) facilities in Asia with more than 165 unique and cutting-edge laboratory equipment. The equipment will cover all the aspects of a cell.
The BIC will also employ top talent from the global pool and will hire more than 500 engineers and PhDs.
A few days ago, Bhavish Aggarwal also shared an image of a Lithium-Ion cell. The CEO said that it is the brand’s first indigenously developed Li-ion battery cell. However, he did not reveal any details of the new product.
Bhavish only talked about how there is a need to have our own technology to scale faster and innovate. He also hinted that there are more products in the pipeline. Ola, like many other electric vehicle manufacturers, imports Li-ion batteries to India. However, it might change in the future as many Indian companies will work on made-in-India battery cells in the future.
The electric scooter recently came in news for technical glitches as well. An Ola S1 Pro caught fire while parked on the roadside in Pune, which resulted in the scooter burning in the ashes in no time. Apart from Ola, many other electric scooters caught fire recently. Due to the rise in such incidents, the Indian government even ordered an investigation to look into the incidents. DRDO’s arm is officially investigating the incidents to find out the exact reasons behind the fires.
