Ola’s Bhavish Aggarwal reveals made-in-India Li-ion cell
Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal shared an image of a Li-ion battery cell. Bhavish says that it is the brand’s first indigenously developed Li-ion battery cell. However, he did not reveal any details of the new product.

Bhavish only talked about how there is a need to have our own technology to scale faster and innovate. He also hinted that there are more products in the pipeline.
Ola, like many other electric vehicle manufacturers, imports Li-ion batteries to India. However, it might change in the future as many Indian companies will work on made-in-India battery cells in the future.

The electric scooter recently came in news for technical glitches as well. An Ola S1 Pro caught fire while parked on the roadside in Pune, which resulted in the scooter burning in the ashes in no time.
Apart from Ola, many other electric scooters caught fire recently. Due to the rise in such incidents, the Indian government even ordered an investigation to look into the incidents. DRDO’s arm is officially investigating the incidents to find out the exact reasons behind the fires.
Giving his clarification on the technical glitches reported around the Ola S1 Pro, Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO of Ola Electric, said that vehicle safety holds paramount importance at Ola, and the company is committed to serving high-quality standards in its products. He also assured that the company is taking such incidents seriously, which was also confirmed by the official Twitter handle of Ola Electric when the fire incident in Pune happened. However, not much progress has happened in the matter since then.
Ola S1 Pro Recall
Earlier this year, Ola Electric recalled around 1,441 scooters as a corrective measure in response to a fire incident in Pune. Ola Electric is yet to give an official statement regarding the cause of this incident. Apart from this, many incidents related to technical, software and quality issues in the Ola S1 Pro have come out on social media. Serious software issues, like scooters going in reverse at a high speed and the remaining range dropping down suddenly, have been reported in many parts of the country.
Unlike other electric two-wheeler manufacturers who sell their offerings through the conventional method of selling through dealer outlets, Ola Electric follows a direct-to-home delivery process through its authorized website.
Ola also introduced MoveOS 2.0 in an OTA update to its customers. The new software is aimed at reducing glitches and increasing the range of the scooter.
