One UI 6.1 brings Custom Expert RAW camera widget to Galaxy S24

0 15

While it may seem minor, One UI 6.1 is a massive update over One UI 6.0. It debuted with the Galaxy S24 series and will be released to more high-end smartphones over the past few months. It brings several camera-related features, including Super HDR, improved Single Take, better slow-motion videos, and more. We have discovered one more camera-related feature that debuts with One UI 6.1.

One UI 6.1 features the Custom Expert RAW camera widget

One UI 6.1 brings a new camera widget, and it is called Custom Expert RAW. Similar to the Custom Camera widget, you can use a custom title, the camera you want to use (front or rear), the camera settings, and the widget’s background. For the rear camera, you can choose from three modes: Astrophoto, Multi Exposure, and ND (Neutral Density) Filter. This is an excellent feature for those who use Expert RAW app mode or have a workflow requiring a particular mode in the Expert RAW camera app. Hopefully, Samsung will add more options and settings for this widget in the future.

It isn’t clear if the Custom Expert RAW widget will come to older phones, but there is a high probability of that happening with the One UI 6.1 update. Samsung has already announced that the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will get the One UI 6.1 update in the first half of this year.

One UI 6.1 features

Some other One UI 6.1 features include a wallpaper generator, custom font options for the lock screen clock widget, improved animations and transitions, weather effects for the lock screen wallpaper, a voice recorder with transcribing and language translation, notes summarization in Samsung Notes, and real-time language translation during voice calls and messaging.

However, most of these AI-powered features will likely not come to older Galaxy smartphones due to their dependence on a newer chipset with a more powerful NPU.
