The Galaxy S24 series ships with a new version of One UI, and the market expects older Galaxy devices to start getting this updated software relatively soon.

We previously heard that the Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be the first to receive One UI 6.1 in the first quarter of 2024. Now, more of the company’s plans for One UI 6.1 appear to have emerged through a Samsung Community post.

According to a translated screenshot of a Samsung Moderator comment on the Community forums, Samsung intends to release the One UI 6.1 update for a handful of Galaxy devices in the first half of 2024.

Devices that should receive One UI 6.1 by H2 2024 include:

  • Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, Galaxy S21 Ultra, Galaxy S22/S22+/S22Ultra, and the Galaxy S23 series, including the Galaxy S23 FE.

In a roundabout way, the same Samsung moderator confirmed (via @Tkyun95) that these phones won’t receive any One UI 6.1 updates earlier than March.

More specifically, the moderator claims that the Galaxy S23 series will receive at least one more One UI 6.0 security patch before jumping to version One UI 6.1. This newer One UI 6.0 patch is planned to roll out in the middle of February.

It’s worth noting that other Galaxy phones have already been spotted on Samsung’s servers running One UI 6.1 test firmware. Devices like the Galaxy Z Flip and Fold 4, the Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy A54, and A34 should also get One UI 6.1 at some point — albeit it might be later than H1 2024.

Editor’s Note: Posts from Samsung Community forum moderators don’t always reveal the whole picture and aren’t always accurate.

For example, roadmaps for upcoming firmware updates are always tentative and not set in stone.

Furthermore, lists shared by moderators aren’t always exhaustive. It is possible that Samsung may want additional Galaxy phones and tablets to receive the one UI 6.1 update in H1 2024 – not just those mentioned in the post, such as the S21 flagships and newer.
