OnePlus Open bend test shows it might just be the toughest foldable phone

OnePlus Open durability test

OnePlus Open is the next victim of YouTuber JerryRigEverything’s (Zack Nelson) durability test. It starts with the usual screen scratches with Zack’s knife. The OnePlus Open’s outer screen starts showing scratches at level 6, while the inner screen starts immediately at level 2. This has been a common occurrence with other foldable phones.

The foldable phone comes with an aluminium frame that is also quite susceptible to knife scratches. OnePlus Open comes with a large camera module at the back, which Zack calls a a “dinner plate”. The glass back though is scratch resistant as seen in the video. OnePlus Open also passed the dust test with the phone functioning normally, and no visible dust getting inside the hinge.

Moving on to the burn test, the outer screen lasts for around 25 seconds before leaving a mark. The inside screen though gives out in just five seconds leaving a permanent black mark.

Here comes the final and most important test, the bend test. OnePlus claims its foldable phone can survive 1 million folds, the highest ever. We can’t test that out in real-life scenarios but Zack did show us the OnePlus Open’s durability. Even despite applying much force while bending it backwards, the OnePlus Open refuses to budge. This showed that it’s quite resilient. And it even works properly after folding it back. It doesn’t fold the exact same way as before but the OnePlus Open still looks like nothing happened to it.
