Only City and Amaze on sale
The Indian subsidiary of the Japanese multinational carmaker, Honda Motor Company, now officially offers only two cars in its product lineup in India. Following the recent implementation of BS6 Phase 2 Real Driving Emission (RDE) norms, the company had to discontinue a number of vehicles from its lineup. As a result, it is now left with only the fifth-generation Honda City and the new Honda Amaze in the country. A few other cars were also discontinued by the company prior to the emission norms because of lackluster sales.
Until March of this year, the company had the hatchback Jazz and WR-V, along with the fourth-generation City, in its lineup. However, with the onset of the new and more stringent emission norms, the company had to discontinue these models. Furthermore, the company discontinued its more premium offerings, the CR-V and Civic, long ago in 2020 after they suffered from extremely low sales.
Currently, Honda Cars India offers the fifth-generation Honda City and its hybrid avatar, the City e:HEV, in its lineup as their flagship sedans. Honda launched the facelifted version of the fifth-generation City starting from Rs 11.49 lakh. The top-end variant of the new City is priced at Rs 20.39 lakh for the top-spec City Hybrid. The new Honda City facelift gets a few minor cosmetic changes, more equipment, new entry-level variants, and a new shade of blue color.

The 2023 Honda City Facelift is powered by a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine and comes with a manual or CVT transmission. Meanwhile, the hybrid model gets an eCVT and a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine. In its class, only the Honda City offers both a hybrid and an eCVT.
Additionally, the only other car left in the Honda lineup is the compact sedan Amaze. The Amaze starts at Rs 6.99 and goes all the way up to Rs 9.48 lakh. It is available in three variants and is offered with both manual and automatic transmission options. The car is powered by a 1.2 L 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces a maximum of 88 bhp of power and 110 Nm of torque.
Future Plans
For Honda enthusiasts in the country, there is some good news as well. The company is in the midst of developing a Creta rivaling SUV, which will most likely be based on the Indonesian markets’ WR-V. However, it will be given a new name to fit the Indian market.
Dimensionally, the Honda WR-V is 4060 mm long, 1780 mm wide, and 1608 mm in height in Indonesia, which is slightly smaller in length and width than its South Korean rivals, the Creta and Seltos, but taller in height. Although it is not confirmed, it is believed that this forthcoming SUV will be powered by a 121PS 1.5-liter petrol engine from the Honda City and will come with a CVT as standard.
Currently, there is no concrete information as to when this SUV will make its official debut in India. However, despite any confirmation or announcement from the brand, some of the Honda dealerships across the country have started taking deposits for this vehicle.
