Pearl Jam Announce ‘Dark Matter’ World Tour

0 16

Hours after dropping their new single “Dark Matter,” Pearl Jam have rolled out details of their new LP along with dates for a 35-date world tour, which kicks off May 4 in Vancouver, British Columbia, and wraps November 21 in Sydney, Australia.

Dark Matter will hit shelves on April 19. It was produced by Andrew Watt and recorded over just three weeks at Shangri-La Studios in Malibu, California. The album was unveiled to the public on January 31 during a listening event at the Troubadour in Los Angeles that the band attended.

“I’m getting chills,” Vedder told the crowd, “because I have good memories. We’re still looking for ways to communicate. We’re at this time in our lives when you could do it or you could not do it, but we still care about putting something out there that is meaningful, and we hopefully think is our best work. No hyperbole, I think this is our best work.”

Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament noted that Watt played a huge role in the creation of the record. “He has encyclopedic knowledge of our history, not only as a band and how we wrote songs, but as players,” Ament said. “He could pinpoint things we did on old songs to the point where I was like, ‘What the fuck is he talking about?’ His excitement was contagious. He’s a force. I just want to say thanks for keeping us on track. I couldn’t be prouder of us as a band. I feel so grateful for the fans, but mostly for my brothers and these people I’ve made music with.”

The tour will hit nine countries all across the globe and will ultimately be their longest run of shows in a calendar year since 2009. They’ll be joined by Deep Sea Diver on the first North American leg, Glen Hansard on the second North American leg, the Murder Capitol in Europe and parts of England, Richard Ashcroft in Dublin and London, and Pixies in Australia and New Zealand.

Tickets will be first available to members of the Ten Club through a pre-sale. The general public can buy tickets by registering with Ticketmaster before midnight on February 18. The band is using all-in pricing, meaning the full cost of the ticket will be shown upfront. To cut down on scalping, they will be mobile-only and non-transferable. If fans can’t use their tickets, they can sell them via the Fan-to-Fan Face Value Ticket Exchange.
