Pete Davidson had joined the series Saturday Night Live in 2014 and stayed for eight seasons before leaving this year. This news is heartbreaking indeed since Pete was the star of the show. During his final episode of Saturday Night Live, Pete Davidson shared some of his memories from the past. Pete appeared on Weekend Update on May 21st with his fellow castmates Colin Jost and Michael Che.

Pete started, “Hello, Colin, Che, and millions of people only watching to see if I bring up Kanye [West]. When Colin asks Pete if he is really leaving the show, Pete responded with a joke, referring to the character Dobby from Harry Potter, “Yeah man, Lorne [Michaels] accidentally gifted me a sock so I’m free.” Pete also took a moment to praise the SNL creator, saying he ‘always gives the best advice.’ According to Pete, this includes his 2018 engagement to Ariana Grande, which they called off after four months.

Pete recalled, “I’ll never forget this, I called him when I got engaged and said, ‘Lorne, I just got engaged to Ariana Grande after dating for two weeks.’ To which the SNL creator replied, ‘Oh! Hold on for dear life!’” Pete then went on to thank the whole crew and the show for always having his back and to allow him to work on himself and grow over the last 8 seasons of the show. “Thank you to Lorne for never giving up on me or judging me even when everyone else was,” he stated.

Pete added, “And for believing me and allowing me to have a place I could call home with the memories that will last a lifetime.” Pete wrote a heartfelt statement to viewers before the episode, which his pal Dave Sirus shared on Instagram. Along with Pete, there are other cast members to who bid farewell to the show in the season 47 finale, including Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney and Kate McKinnon. This must have been difficult on Pete and the rest of the cast, but life moves on. Let’s see if Kim shows up to support him.
