Pixel 6 & 7 get January 2023 Play system update
After skipping the December release, Google is seemingly rolling out the January 2023 Play system update to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series. Some Pixel users are still stuck on the November Play system update
Despite picking up a new Play system update, some Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 users have noticed that their phones are stuck on the November release. The new update doesn’t seem to bump the devices to the January release. It’s unclear whether it’s a bug causing the Play system version to show incorrectly or their phones haven’t received the January update. Hopefully, the word has reached Google and it is working on a fix for this issue.
Some Samsung users have been having a similar issue as well. They haven’t received new Play system updates since the July 2022 release. Even if the phone shows a new update, installing it doesn’t change anything. The Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy S22 series, and Galaxy Z series foldables are among the affected devices. There’s no evidence yet that confirms these Play system issues on Pixel and Galaxy devices to have stemmed from the same root cause. We will let you know as soon as we have more information.
