Players suspect Lifmunk Effigies may be nerfing Palworld capture rates

0 22

If you’re about to hand in some Lifmunk Effigies to boost your catching power in Palworld, you might want to hold off for just a little while. Recent events have led to community speculation as to whether the statues are working as they should, or even if they’re holding people back.

Pockets of the community all over have been investigating this possible bug and the results seem to point to one thing – Lifmunk Effigies are not only bugged, but they’re bugged in a way which makes player’s capture rates significantly worse.

I have to point out that Pocketpair has neither confirmed nor denied the existence of such a bug, but in the latest round of patch notes, it mentioned an issue linked to Lifmunk Effigies, though it wasn’t this one.

“Fixed an issue where capture power strengthened by Lifmunk Effigies was reset when using memory reset drugs.”

v0.1.4.0 Patch Notes, Pocketpair

So it is possible that in the process of fixing one issue, they created another one, but that’s just my own speculation thrown into the mix.

One YouTuber, Chalenor, performed a test of the theory, and the results were surprising, to say the least. On a server with no capture rate boosts, they attempted to capture low level pals with basic Pal Spheres and Palworld displayed a roughly 53% chance of capturing said Pals. Then, after increasing their capture rate to the maximum possible level via the Statue of Power, that capture rate somehow decreased, dropping down to about 37%.

Other players think the bug is a little more complex, and perhaps tied to Palworld’s aforementioned Memory Reset Drugs, but that wouldn’t explain the issue for everyone. Regardless, there’s a ton of folks in some of these Reddit threads trying to sniff out the root of it.

On the bright side, this potential bug does at least explain why I’m having such a hard time capturing high-level Pals with Legendary Spheres, but that doesn’t exactly make up for the amount of resources I’ve quite literally thrown away in the process.

As I said, none of this has been confirmed or even mentioned by Pocketpair, but the developer has quickly fixed other major issues in the past. Hopefully, if there is an issue, it will be rectified pretty soon, and we can all go back to capturing Pals with relative ease.
