Playing Games Without A Console Just Became Available To More People In More Places

0 29

Samsung has announced a partnership with streaming company Boosteroid to help bring video games to more people around the world without the need for a device like an Xbox or a PlayStation console.

People who own a supported Samsung smart TV, monitor, or projector can now access the Boosteroid app to play games. Boosteroid is just the latest cloud gaming app for Samsung smart TVs, following Xbox, Nvidia GeForce Now, Amazon Luna, Utomik, Antstream Arcade, and Blacknut.

The Samsung Gaming Hub is already available on Samsung’s 2023 and 2022 smart TV and monitor models. Samsung has now announced that 2021 and 2020 smart TVs from Samsung now support game streaming partner apps that users can download. The rollout of support for 2020 models actually began earlier in 2023 in the US and Canada, but now it’s available globally.

Customers can download individual apps from the Samsung app store directly from their TVs, sign in to their account, and play any game supported in the catalog. The Xbox app, for example, lets players stream games like Starfield, Halo Infinite, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and many more.

While players do not need a console to play any of the games in the Samsung Gaming Hub, you will need a controller of some type. The Samsung Gaming Hub supports Xbox and PlayStation controllers, as well as the Luna controller. If you don’t have any controller, the app supports virtual controllers on your phone or even your existing TV remote.
