PS Plus Essential will offer two monthly games, exclusive discounts, online multiplayer access, and cloud storage for game save files, just like the existing PS Plus subscription. Meanwhile, Extra, Premium, and Deluxe tiers will let you access up to 740 games. Here’s all you need to know about the new PS Plus tiers:

PlayStation Plus Essential

PlayStation Plus Essential is basically the same as the current PlayStation Plus subscription that offers two monthly games, cloud storage for game save files, exclusive discounts, and online multiplayer access. The price of PlayStation Plus Essential in India will be the same as the existing PlayStation Plus subscription.

In the US, the PS Plus Essential subscription is priced at $10 (~Rs 757) monthly, $25 (~Rs 1,900 quarterly, and $60 (~Rs 4,540) yearly.

PlayStation Plus Extra

PlayStation Plus Extra will offer all the benefits of Essential along with up to 400 downloadable PS4 and PS5 games. Since this tier has additional benefits over Essential, PlayStation Plus Extra will be priced comparatively higher. The official Indian pricing for PlayStation Plus Extra isn’t announced yet, but the speculated pricing is out. 

The US prices of PlayStation Plus Extra subscription are as follows $15 (~Rs 1,135) monthly, $40 (~Rs 3,028) quarterly, and $100 (~Rs 7,571) yearly.

PlayStation Plus Premium

PlayStation Plus Premium provides all the benefits of Essential and Extra tiers as well as up to 340 additional games and time-limited game trials. The 340 games will include PS3 games via cloud streaming and PlayStation, PS2, PS4, and PSP games that will be available to download and stream. Cloud streaming will be available in regions where PS Now is currently available, which unfortunately doesn’t include India.

The PlayStation Plus Premium plan is priced at for $18 (~Rs 1,362) monthly, $50 (~Rs 3,785) quarterly, and $120 (~Rs 9,085) yearly.

PlayStation Plus Deluxe

PlayStation Plus Deluxe will be an alternative to PlayStation Plus Premium in regions that don’t have PS Now. PlayStation Plus Deluxe tier will come with downloadable PlayStation, PS2, and PSP games, time-limited game trials, as well as benefits from Essential and Extra tiers. Although the exact pricing of PlayStation Plus Deluxe isn’t revealed yet, Sony has said that it will be “offered at a lower price compared to Premium.”

While speaking on the Official PlayStation Podcast, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan that “all the big names” are present in the PS Plus games line-up. Ryan said (via VGC), “We have big publishers, we have small indie publishers. We have over 200 partners working with us to put their content into PlayStation Plus, so the line-up is going to be really strong.” That being said, Sony has only revealed a handful of games that will be added to PlayStation Plus tiers. The list includes

  • Death Stranding
  • God of War
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Mortal Kombat 11
  • Returnal

PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, Premium launch date

Sony will launch the new PlayStation Plus services in a phased regional manner. In June 2022, the service will begin rolling out in various markets in Asia, followed by North America and Europe, and then across the globe. Sony is hoping to make the new PlayStation Plus service available in most regions by the end of first half of 2022. The company is also planning to bring cloud streaming to more regions, which may include India. Sony will share more details about cloud streaming availability at a later date.
