Post Malone Performs Sublime and Proclaimers Covers at New Zealand Bar

Post Malone is a fairly low-maintenance performer, one almost as likely to have a red Solo cup in his hand on stage as he is to be wielding a microphone. But his shows are usually only an hour or two, and naturally, there’s a distance between himself and the thousands of people in his audience. Currently, on a trip to New Zealand, the singer found a remedy for bridging this gap by hanging with and performing for unsuspecting bar-goers at Danny Doolan’s Irish Pub for four hours.

“I met Posty last night in my bar Danny Doolans in Auckland, asked him if he could get on stage and he actually did it,” one fan wrote on TikTok, sharing her front and center view of the singer as he ran through covers of Sublime’s 1996 record “What I Got” and the 1988 Proclaimers single “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” with the house band.

Earlier this year, Post popped up at a karaoke bar in Perth, Australia, for a similarly impromptu appearance where he screamed out System of a Down lyrics. He had tried to get into a different bar in the area that night but was denied entry because of his tattoos. He ended up at the bar 18 Knots, where he spoiled patrons with drinks.

In May, the musician stopped in at a bar in Glasgow, England, and jammed out with a fan he ran into there. “Never thought whilst heading out the door with my guitar on Friday night for my gig at @wunderbarglasgow that I’d meet @postmalone and have such a life changing experience,” the fan, who is also a Scottish musician, wrote. “The hours spent with this gent chatting and jamming was life changing in itself, not to mention what followed.” He reportedly helped the local musician fund a downpayment on a home.

In just a few days, Post will be back to the grind as he joins Lana Del Rey, John Legend, Kacey Musgraves, Alanis Morissette, Kane Brown, Lainey Wilson, and The War and Treaty on the NBC holiday special Christmas at Graceland. Scheduled for Nov. 29, airing at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC and Peacock, the performances will be filmed at Elvis Presley’s home in Memphis, Tennessee.
