Bugatti Chiron is one of the most popular cars in the world because it is the spiritual successor to the legendary Bugatti Veyron. Not many people own the supercar because of its expensive price tag and exclusivity. Here, we have a video in which a member of Qatar’s royal family is driving the Bugatti Chiron.

The video is uploaded on YouTube by All Cars. In the video, we can see Bugatti Chiron driving down the roads of Central London. It is finished in black colour with orange stripes on it. This is not a regular Bugatti Chiron. It is the Super Sport version of the Chiron which is based on the Super Sport 300 that set the world record of being the fastest car by hitting 300 mph or 482 kmph. The Super Sport’s top speed is limited to 273 mph or 440 kmph whereas the Chiron Sport goes up to  261 mph or 420 kmph.

Bugatti redesigned the body of Super Sport to smoothen out the air flow. This was done by extending the rear deck by 25 cm. It also gets different exhaust pipes as compared to other Chirons. They are now not located in the centre, they are split pairs of vertical units that sit beside the rear diffuser. The chassis was also reworked so it has different styling.

Because the prime focus of the Chiron Super Sport is to hit high speeds. The main reason behind all the changes was to increase the straight-line stability and smoother cornering. The dampers and the steering were also stiffened up for the same reasons. Michelin made bespoke Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres for Bugatti that could hit 500 kmph. The overall weight reduction on the Super Sport was 23 kgs.

The manufacturer also reworked the engine. It is still an 8-litre unit and comes with quad turbochargers. Bugatti changed the cylinder heads, oil pump and turbochargers to achieve a max power output of 1,577 hp and 1,600 Nm of peak torque. The torque output is the same as the Bugatti Sport but it is now spread more evenly across the rev band. The power was also increased by 98 hp when compared to Bugatti Sport and the red line was also increased to 7,100 rpm.

0-100 kmph acceleration times do not really matter for a car like Chiron. What Bugatti does advertise is 0-200 kmph time which is just 5.8 seconds and it can hit 300 kmph in just 12.1 seconds. Where the Super Sport 300 was a hard-core lightweight vehicle whose main focus was just to hit the top speed, the Chiron Super Sport’s focus would be hitting top speeds but with luxury. So, it can be the ultimate grand tourer if you want.

There are several other special editions of the Chiron too. There is the regular Chiron, Chiron Sport, Chiron Pur Sport and Chiron Super Sport.
