Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania screenwriter Jeff Loveness reveals he created a role for Jennifer Coolidge in the film. However — as it did not materialize — he has a far bigger grand plan for her.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Loveness shares that he had wanted Coolidge to play Linda — the woman Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) had a brief affair with — while his true love, Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), spent three decades trapped in the Quantum Realm. The screenwriter says he had a remote meeting with Coolidge to discuss the part, but it never went further.

“I don’t think it even made it into pages, but we wanted Jennifer Coolidge to be Linda for a brief moment. It never reached beyond a Zoom between ourselves, but I had some good ideas there.”

Loveness quickly added that there is always room for Coolidge in the MCU. However, he envisions her star as one of the most memorable supervillains in the franchise.

“We’ll save her for next time. I’m sure she’ll wind up in the MCU, sometime. She can be Doctor Doom.”

If the fan theory that Doctor Doom will make his foray into Phase 5 of the MCU proves true, there may be a scintilla of hope that Coolidge could appear in the role in the Disney Plus series Agatha: Coven of Chaos.

Loveness has the distinction of being the eighth screenwriter with a solo writing credit for a Marvel movie. After graduating from Pepperdine University with a Bachelor of Fine Art, he began his career as a writer on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and went on to write the fourth season of the animated series Rick and Morty. Marvel Studios approached him to write the screenplay for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in 2020. He is also writing the script for the upcoming film Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which is due for theatrical release in 2025.
