Reaffirming its commitment to protecting the safety and trust of digital citizens, the Ministry of Electronics and IT has notified amendments to the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, related to online gaming and spread of false and misleading information regarding government business. Responding to questions on fact-check body, Minister of State for Information Technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar has said, “The dangers of misinfo & impact of patently false info in a democracy like ours is never to be underestimated…Rules that were notified yesterday talks about notifying such an organization in future, that will be the fact checker for all govt content and information.”
