Rare pictures of the BMW M5 high performance sedan with bullet proof windows that Salman Khan once owned

Salman Khan is one of Bollywood’s biggest stars, with a loyal fan base across the nation. He has been in the industry for years, and it’s hard to find anyone in India who doesn’t know him. Although not a hardcore automobile enthusiast, he has an impressive collection of bikes and cars in his garage. Recently, for security reasons, he purchased a bulletproof previous generation Toyota Land Cruiser. We also came across rare pictures of a BMW E39 M5 that Salman Khan once owned.

The images were shared by Car Crazy India on their Instagram page with the caption, “An Automotive Icon, India’s only E39 M5. This one used to belong to the Universal Bhaijaan himself, Salman Khan. Due to the condition of Bollywood at that time, this was also equipped with bulletproof windows. Seen here with the Audi 100 that Ravi Shastri won back in 1985 and the country’s only Audi B7 RS4.”

BMW never officially sold this generation of the M5 in India, making this E39 M5 extremely rare in the country. As mentioned in the post, Salman Khan had bulletproof windshields installed on this car for security reasons. We aren’t sure whether the car seen in the picture still has them, but it’s worth noting that bulletproof glass increases the overall weight of the vehicle and can affect its performance.

The BMW E39 M5 was powered by a 4.9-liter V8 engine, making 394 Bhp and 500 Nm. He used this car for a long time and finally sold it before getting an Audi RS7.

As mentioned above, the car looks slightly different from the older ones. The current owner has customized it, and the color has been changed. The original shade of the M5 when it was with Salman Khan was blue, but from the pictures, it’s clear that the owner has repainted or wrapped the entire car in a silver shade. A carbon fiber splitter has been installed on the lower part of the bumper, and there are carbon fiber insets on the bumper that may or may not be functional vents.

Another significant change to the car is the wheels. The stock wheels have been replaced with larger all-black alloy wheels with red pinstripes. There is a spoiler above the rear windshield and a carbon fiber spoiler installed on the tailgate. We aren’t sure whether the car has any performance modifications or interior customizations. From the pictures, it looks tastefully modified and well-maintained.
