The Oscars are right around the corner, and you’re probably planning on what kind of snacks to buy during the event. However, what are you going to do in the lead-up to the event? If you don’t know, Google TV will get you prepared for the Oscars by offering certain movies to watch living up to the event.

In case you don’t know, the Oscars are happening on March 10th, which is the upcoming Sunday. Because of this, Google is giving you access to a selection of movies to get you into the spirit. Starting off, you’ll get ad-supported access to 30 Oscar-winning movies from the past. Unfortunately, Google did not say which movies these are. You’re just going to have to log on to your Google TV device and find out.

Along with those movies, Google TV is also going to showcase movies starring Oscar-winning women and female directors. It’s doing this in observance of National Women’s Month. So, if you’re unfamiliar with all of the wonderful woman directors out there, this will allow you to discover them.

What’s perhaps the funnest part of this showcase is the fact that Google TV is going to be showing off movies that are currently running up for an Oscar. These movies include Barbie, Killer Of The Flower Moon, Oppenheimer, and others. These movies have made waves throughout the movie industry over the past year. Notably, Barbie and Oppenheimer, two of the most anticipated movies of 2023, were combined into “Barbenheimer.”

Last, but not least, Google TV users will be able to watch the “Countdown to Oscars: On the Red Carpet Live” pre-show event. This will happen on the day of the Oscars, and it will be streamed through the ABC channel on Google TV.

Don’t have Google TV?

Undoubtedly, one of the best ways to watch Google TV is through a Chromecast dongle. Current Chromecast dongles come with Google TV loaded. If you’re interested in getting a Chromecast dongle, there are two options. The HD option gives you streaming up to 1080p. This one cost $29.99. If you want a sharper image, then you can shell out for the 4K model. This model cost $49.99. Check out the Chromecast using the link below.
