Apple has started rolling out the iOS 16 for public beta and fans have a reason to be super excited. The new software update comes with several new features and improvements. One such feature that has been introduced in the Photos application lets users remove background from the images taken on an iPhone. It applies to iOS 16 compatible handsets like iPhone 11, iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and others. With this new feature, iOS 16 supported iPhone users won’t have to rely on third-party apps or photo editing software to remove noisy and unpleasant backgrounds from the image. The feature relies on the latest technologies like Machine Learning. It removes the selected subject from the photo by dropping or pasting it somewhere else.

How to remove background from images on Apple iPhone

Step 1:

Open the Photos application on your Apple iPhone. 
 

Step 2:

Now, select the image that you want to edit or remove the background from.

Step 3:

Once selected, long-press on the subject of the photo that you want to remove. As you long press the subject, a subtle animation will appear to indicate that the subject is being selected. 
 

Step 4:

Now, open the app where you want to drop or paste the subject into without removing your finger. 
 

Step 5:

Drop the selected subject on the app that you have opened and it’s done!

Before you follow the above mentioned steps, do ensure that your iPhone supports the iOS 16 software. Apple has dropped the new software support from some of the older models. Only the iPhone 8 and above owners can access this feature as iPhone 7, iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone SE don’t support the new iOS 16 update due their hardware restrictions.
