Retiree buys Knolls Village townhome with help from Steller Group

Anne Wormley bought and sold homes three times in the past decade. Each time, the 71-year-old turned to The Steller Group for help.

“If I move again, I wouldn’t consider working with another company,” she says. “Steller goes above and beyond what you’d expect a realty company to do.”

And Bill Dehmlow, a broker-associate at The Steller Group, helped each time.

The Steller Group helped Wormley buy her new homes and provided services to price and prepare her existing homes for sale, including complimentary full-service staging and strategic improvements to increase salability.

Time to downsize

In 2012, caring for her husband with Alzheimer’s, Wormley decided to downsize and sell their Southern Hills home and move into a smaller, more manageable ranch-style house in Cherry Knolls.

After they settled in, Wormley contacted Steller Group owner Conrad Steller for advice about renovations to improve the new home for their use and better prepare it for future sale.

“This isn’t a company that just helps you buy or sell and then forgets you,” Wormley says. “I know I can count on them. I can ask them for referrals, and they will always provide people who can help me out.”

Finding the perfect home

A few years later, needing to downsize further, the couple moved into a Village at the Knolls townhome. Even though Wormley wanted to back to coveted open space, she bought a “temporary townhome” in the community to settle into, knowing if the right home popped up, she would move again.

And it eventually did. After three years of looking, she found her dream home. The Steller Group helped her submit the winning bid.

This move was the most difficult because her husband was transitioning into a memory care center while Wormley was recovering from bronchitis. Still, she followed Dehmlow’s advice and put her home on the market before interest rates increased.

“He made arrangements to get my townhome cleaned, fully staged and ready so we could put it on the market in two days,” she says.

Selling quickly

The Steller Group listed the house on Friday, held an open house on Saturday that drew 75 people, and by Sunday, the townhome was under contract.
