Following the recent unfortunate and horrific accident of the famed Indian wicket-keeper and batsman Rishabh Pant, it was reported that he was taken to immediate emergency care at Saksham Hospital in Roorkee. Later Pant was moved to Max Hospital in Dehradun for further treatment. The cricketer has now been admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. Pant was airlifted from Dehdrun and was brought to Mumbai for further treatment.

Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, who has previously worked with players like Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja, will be taking care of Pant in Mumbai. Pardiwala is the Director of Arthroscopy & Shoulder Service and Head of the Centre for Sports Medicine at Kokilaben Hospital in Andheri Mumbai.

Speaking on shifting of Pant from the hospital in Dehradun to Mumbai, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a statement saying, “”Rishabh will undergo surgery and subsequent procedures for ligament tears and will continue to be monitored by the BCCI Medical Team throughout his recovery and rehabilitation. The Board will make every effort to aid and expedite the recovery process of Rishabh and will provide him with all the support he needs during this period.”

It was further stated that the BCCI appreciated that Pant received timely care at the two hospitals in Uttarakhand, but opted to have its own medical staff address his injuries. While Pant’s medical insurance will pay for his care, the board paid for the air ambulance.

For those unaware, Rishabh Pant was miraculously spared from a horrifying accident that occurred on the Delhi-Dehradun motorway in the wee hours of December 30, 2022, while he was traveling to Dehradun to visit his mother. Rishabh Pant was driving the Mercedes-AMG GLE SUV in this collision when it struck the road divider at a very high speed. The GLE had many overturns in this collision before completely exploding into ashes. In the 5-7 seconds that separated the impact and the SUV catching fire, Pant was able to escape the vehicle by smashing the glass.

Sushil Kumar, a bus driver for Haryana Roadways, and Paramjeet, the conductor of the same bus, were the first to save Rishabh Pant when his luxury automobile caught fire and crashed into a divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway. When he observed the terrible collision, Kumar, who was operating a Haryana Roadways bus on the same roadway, stopped sideways to assist Pant. He first didn’t recognize Pant, but he and his conductor Paramjeet still went out of their way to assist him, showing the very best of mankind. Later on, Paramjeet noticed Pant and informed Kumar that he is a famous Indian cricket player.

Haryana Roadways recognized and praised Sushil Kumar and Paramjeet for their selfless gesture of saving Pant’s life. Additionally, the Uttarakhand Government has also stepped forward to take similar action. According to Ashok Kumar, the director general of the Uttarakhand Police, all bystanders who assisted in rescuing Pant from the scene of the accident and bringing him to the hospital will also receive rewards under the “Good Samaritan” programme of the Central Government’s Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
