Royal Enfield Bullet 350 catches fire after water crossing in Ladakh [Video]
There have been a lot of accidents in the recent past, in which electric two-wheelers have caught fire in unexpected conditions. However, the conventional two-wheelers powered by internal combustion engines are also not exempted from such dire consequences. Recently, a Royal Enfield Bullet caught fire on its own in Ladakh, the visuals of which have gone viral on the Internet.
In a YouTube short video from @trippyyogi669, we can see a Royal Enfield Bullet catching fire on its own while being parked on the roadside. The video clearly shows that the electric starter of the Bullet operated on its own, after which the motorcycle fell over a Royal Enfield Himalayan parked near it. Soon after falling, the Bullet caught fire, which only worsened with time. The onlookers at the spot tried to control the fire by pouring water and sand over it.

The video reveals that the Royal Enfield Bullet, which is seen catching fire in the video, had passed through a water crossing between Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake in the Ladakh region. The initial impressions are indicating that an incident of short-circuiting in the electrical wiring of the Bullet might have caused the self-operation of an electric starter, which eventually led to the motorcycle catching fire.
The short-circuiting might have happened due to the penetration of water in the electrical system of the Bullet while passing through the water crossing. When the Royal Enfield Bullet fell and burnt into flames, the motorcycles parked near it were taken at a distance away from it. Also, no other harm or injuries to any person has been reported in this incident.
Royal Enfields have caught fire in the past
It is not the first time when a Royal Enfield motorcycle has caught fire in the open, as in the past, we have come across such instances. However, in most of the instances, the fire that broke out was a result of over-wiring of the electrical system of the motorcycles due to additional after-market electrical accessories installed in them. All the two-wheeler manufacturers, including Royal Enfield, do not recommend the installation of aftermarket accessories in their products, especially the modifications involving their electrical systems.
The Royal Enfield Bullet seen in the video seems to be the top-spec variant of the Bullet 350, which comes equipped with an electric starter. The base-spec variants of the Bullet 350, however, come standard with a kick starter. Though, this might change with the arrival of the new Royal Enfield Bullet 350 with the next-generation 349cc J-Series engine, which does not feature a kick starter and comes with an electric starter as standard. The new Bullet 350 will be launched by Royal Enfield in India in the first half of 2023.
