The entire marketing push for the event is based on the clamshell foldable. Samsung’s official invite for the event asks you to “Join the flip side,” and the company chose to include a teaser image of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 on it.

All of the marketing materials that we’ve seen from the company so far for this event are singularly focused on the Galaxy Z Flip 5, to the point where there’s no mention of the Galaxy Z Fold 5. That’s not to say that Samsung doesn’t love the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and wouldn’t want you to buy one, it’s just that Samsung feels that summer 2023 is going to be all about the Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Why shouldn’t it be? The clamshell foldable has already been one of Samsung’s best-selling devices in this segment. Some reports suggest that previous Galaxy Z Flip models have accounted for as much as 70% of foldable sales. It doesn’t hurt that this foldable phone starts at $999, far more attainable than the Galaxy Z Fold models that start at $1,799.

So why is the Galaxy Z Flip 5 looking more like a summer hit with each passing day? If the rumors are anything to go by, it’s going to provide customers with incredible value for money. It’s rumored to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with 12GB of RAM, 256GB storage, and a 4,100mAh battery. The cameras will receive an upgrade as well. It goes without saying that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is a bonafide flagship smartphone and will offer the best specs you can find on a clamshell foldable this year.

Perhaps the one change that most customers will love is the larger cover display. We’ve seen plenty of leaked renders that show exactly what it’s going to look like.
