Samsung finally launches SmartThings in Vietnam

Samsung’s SmartThings home automation platform has been available in a number of countries across the globe for many years now. Unfortunately, Vietnam wasn’t one of them, keeping Samsung users in the country void of one of the best IoT ecosystems around the world. Well, after years of its inception, Samsung has finally made the SmartThings platform available in Vietnam, the company announced in a press release on Tuesday.

Samsung’s home automation service allows users to connect to Samsung and third-party SmartThings-supported products using their smartphones/tablets and control them using the SmartThings app. For example, you can connect to an LED bulb with SmartThings support using the SmartThings app on your smartphone and control it remotely, such as turning it on or off, increasing or decreasing its brightness, and even changing its colors.

You can also set scenes in SmartThings. For instance, if you turn on movie mode in the SmartThings app, it will adjust the settings of all the supported products to make your movie-watching experience better, such as turning on Cinema Mode on your Samsung TV for better picture quality, dimming the lights and rolling down the curtains in your room for a theatre-like feel, and even turning the air conditioner on for a cozy temperature.

Recently, Samsung added support for the Matter standard to the SmartThings platform, which means that it can connect to any Matter-supported device to the app and control it from there.

Samsung has set up a booth at its store in Nguyen Kim for people to experience the SmartThings home automation service. Samsung has also announced some exciting offers on its products to celebrate the launch of SmartThings in the country, including a VND 4,700,000 (around $200) worth gift package for pre-ordering Neo QLED 8K or OLED TVs. This offer is valid till April 3, 2023, after which the value of the gift package will drop to VND 2,900,000 (around $123).
